With Christmas behind us, a reminder to compost your tree

With Christmas behind us, a reminder to compost your tree

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Christmas trees can be dropped off at the Olmsted County Compost Site for free during January through March.

The site is located on the east side of the Olmsted County Recycling Center Plus at 305 Silver Creek Road NE in Rochester. Trees can be dropped off any day of the week during daylight hours.

Americans purchase about 25 million farm-grown Christmas trees each year, according to research by the University of Illinois. About 93 percent of those trees are composted at community recycling centers, personal gardens and backyards.
