Stewartville volleyball coach suspended for five games
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - The Stewartville School Board voted on Monday night to suspend volleyball coach John Dzubay following allegations he broke Minnesota State High School League rules.
By a 7-0 vote, the board decided to suspend Dzubay for the first five matches of next year's season, says a report by KTTC-TV. Members had a wide range of options, ranging from doing nothing to terminating his contract.
"A five game suspension, I can live with that," Dzubay said, according to a report by KAAL-TV. "I know I'm not completely innocent in this whole thing. I totally misinterpreted the rules and if you misinterpret the rules, something has to happen."

— Elizabeth Nida Obert (@PBenida) March 10, 2015Dzubay is accused of violating four MSHSL rules, notes the Post-Bulletin. Three of the complaints deal with excessive conditioning — such as encouraging players to practice on Sunday and rewarding them for attending open gym.
The fourth involved his daughter-in-law, Leigh, who he let work on Stewartville's volleyball staff while she was also coaching Junior Olympic volleyball, says the paper. Individuals cannot coach both teams, under MSHL rules.
KIMT-TV reports the MSHSL will now review the school board’s decision. The league can either approve the suspension or add to its severity. A decision is expected on April 2.
Dzubay has coached the team since 1981. A Facebook page in support of him has almost 1,500 followers.
