Three Rochester teens selected as winners of a statewide art contest

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Three students from Schaeffer Academy in Rochester were selected as winners of the 2015 Minnesota Aviation Art contest.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced the top finishers Monday morning. Four winning entries in three age categories (6-9, 10-13, 14-17) were selected from more than 500 entries statewide.

Schaeffer student Ann Marie Jalmasco won the 14-17 age bracket, while here schoolmates Katherine Michelson and Mary Jo Schirge finished in third and fourth place, respectively.

Their artwork will be featured in the 2016 Minnesota Aviation Art Calendar. The winning students will also receive art supplies and certificates for a 30-minute introductory flight at their local airport.
