Update: Rochester fatal crash victim identified as St. Charles man

A crash killed one person and injured two others Saturday night in northeast Rochester.

The head-on collision happened around 5:40 p.m. in the 5400 block of Silver Creek Road NE in Haverhill Township. The driver of the EB vehicle, identified as Jeremy Walters, 21 of St. Charles, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger in the EB vehicle, Andrew Andersen, 20 of Jordan, Minn., was transported by Mayo One after suffering serious head and body injuries. His current condition is unknown.

The driver of the WB vehicle was transported to St. Marys Hospital by Gold Cross with non-life threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation by the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office reveals that Walters was driving his sedan on the wrong side of the road when he struck an oncoming pickup truck. Authorities are still looking into whether speed or alcohol was involved.

The crash was one of at least eight reported over the Labor Day weekend in Olmsted County.
