Time travel: This week marks 82 years since FDR's historic visit to Rochester
On this date 82 years ago, President Franklin D. Roosevelt visited Rochester to honor the Mayo Brothers and tour their world-renowned medical clinic.
According to historical records, about 75,000 people lined a parade route from Mayo Park to Soldiers Field to witness the spectacle firsthand.
President Roosevelt also addressed the nation in a live radio broadcast from Soldiers Field and later sailed down the Mississippi River on Dr. William J. Mayo's yacht, the "North Star."
