Tickets to local TEDx event go on sale this week
Tickets to Rochester's inaugural TEDx event will go on sale this Thursday.
TEDxZumbroRiver is scheduled for May 5 at Autumn Ridge Church in Rochester. The one-day event will feature at least a dozen live speakers, each with a unique and innovative idea.
Local auditions were held last November at Goonie's Comedy Club.
Tickets to the event are $47 and can be purchased through the event's official website beginning Thursday at noon. The venue holds about 1,000 people.
Videos from the conference will later be posted online.
TEDx events have been held in more than 1,200 cities across the world, including Minneapolis and Fargo. The difference between a TED conference and a TEDx conference is the "x," which indicates the event is independently organized.
Ahead of the local event, organizers of TEDxZumbroRiver will hold a free viewing event of the national TED conference at the Rochester Public Library. The conference will be streamed live on Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the library's auditorium.
Correction: An earlier version of this story gave the wrong date for the live stream.
