Christina Zorn named chief administrative officer of Mayo Clinic

The Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees has tapped Christina Zorn to become the organization’s next chief administrative officer.

The announcement, made Friday morning, positions Zorn to become the number two ranking executive at Mayo — working alongside President and CEO Dr. Gianrico Farrugia.

In a statement, Farrugia called Zorn a “values-driven servant leader with a strong track record of contributions to our organization.”

“She brings unique qualifications and leadership qualities to this position, and I look forward to partnering with her to advance health care transformation at Mayo Clinic and beyond,” said Farrugia.

Zorn joined Mayo in 2002 as a legal counsel, and most recently served as the chief administrative officer of its Florida campus.

In her expanded role, Zorn will be responsible for overseeing administrative functions and financial stewardship of an institution that generated $13.9 billion in 2020.

She takes over for Jeff Bolton, who announced in August plans to retire from Mayo on Nov. 30. The news release says the two will work together in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

Zorn will be just the second woman in Mayo’s history to head up administrative functions enterprise-wide. The first woman to hold the position of chief administrative officer was Shirley Weis (2006-’13).
