Rochester comedy club making a comeback

Rochester comedy club making a comeback

If laughter is the best medicine, then Mark Klampe has the prescription.

Klampe recently announced that Goonie’s Comedy Club will make its return to Rochester inside the new Crooked Pint location, 1625 South Broadway.

Like with past iterations of Goonie’s, Klampe plans to bring in regional and national acts on Friday and Saturday nights.

Goonie’s first opened in 2006 on the top floor of the Olmsted County Bank and Trust building in downtown Rochester. It shut down in 2016 as Klampe and the rest of the ownership group prepared the building for sale.

The club later started back up in Crooked Pint’s previous location on Commerce Drive. The laughs, however, were put on pause as Crooked Pint searched for a new location amid the pandemic.

Klampe said remodeling for the club is already underway, though it will be at least a month before he will be able set a timeline for opening.
