Rochester native named president of Norway's largest university
(THE MED CITY BEAT) - A man who grew up in Rochester is about to take over the top spot at Norway's largest university.
Curt Rice, 52, was recently appointed the new president of Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences.
My klout score jumped almost 4 points in one day. I knew this rector gig would be good for something ;)

Rice is a graduate of Mayo High School ('80) in Rochester and Augsburg College ('84) in Minneapolis, according to a news release. He is the first non-Norwegian to be named head of a Norwegian institution for higher education.
“I look forward to meeting the faculty, staff and students and working closely with them and our other partners to write HiOA's next chapter,” said Rice.
Rice earned his doctorate in general linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin. He’s currently a professor in the Department of Languages and Linguistics at the University of Tromsø.
His parents live in Bemidji, and his wife runs a Norwegian language camp just outside the city, notes a report by the Star Tribune.
Rice will begin his position as president on Aug. 1.
