Take-home beer growlers now available for purchase seven days a week

(THE MED CITY BEAT) - Beer drinkers in Rochester will now have the chance to purchase take-home growlers from local microbreweries on Sundays.

The Rochester City Council approved an ordinance revision this week that allows the sale of 64-ounce glass containers on Sundays. The change goes into effect this weekend.

The move was in response to a new state law that gives local governments the authority to allow Sunday sales by craft breweries. All other forms of off-site alcohol sales —  with the exception of diluted 3.2 percent beer — are still prohibited on Sundays in Minnesota.

Kinney Creek Brewery and Grand Rounds Brewpub will immediately begin selling growlers seven days a week. Two other Rochester microbreweries, Forager and LTS, will follow suit when they open this summer.
